We are pleased to inform you that next September 2014 will take place in Perugia, Italy, the Fifteenth World Lake Conference (WLC15), organised by ILEC and USMA. Concerning the Conference topics, we focused the interest on a Special Workshop, the MS12-08 "Water Framework Directive environmental quality assessment of lake water bodies in Europe", and on Shallow lakes and wetlands of Mediterranean area (inside Session MS 12-02 “Mitigation and Adaptation”).
The call for Abstracts is open until 31 March.

The Freshwater Mollusk Conservation Society’s biennial workshop will be held on April 24 and 25, 2014 in Portland, Maine. This year the workshop will focus on “Mussel Studies and Regulatory Processes Associated with Dam Removal Projects”. Thousands of low head dams no longer serve their intended purpose and as such there has been increasing interest and success in the removal of dams and other barriers that impede river flows, fish passage, and connectivity within stream reaches...
